We already have sophisticated smart assistants like Siri on our phones, self-driving cars are getting closer to entering our daily lives, robots are helping farmers protect their crops from weeds by monitoring and spraying herbicide on plants, AI models can paint and generate images from text, and AI systems are already helping doctors detect diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurological disorders in their early stages. The AI software market is expanding quickly on a global scale. By 2025, it is anticipated to reach $126 billion, according to Statista. It is seen as the upcoming major disruptor and a growth engine for the economy.

In fact, a few research facilities, businesses, and startups are already making advancements in the field of artificial intelligence and adding to the world's digital ecosystem. For instance, a team of professors from the Information Technology University (ITU) in Lahore is working to find solutions to important issues and disseminating their findings at prestigious AI conferences. An economic indicators predictor that employs satellite and aerial photography is one of their Intelligent Machines Lab's most intriguing projects. They are creating computer vision and artificial intelligence (AI) technology that analyzes a satellite image and provides a poverty estimate for a region, giving the government and policymakers the information they need to make informed decisions. The purpose of this AI writer is to create news content using data metrics from daily journalism news and reports.  This tech firm received $4 million in funding, the most any AI startup in Pakistan has received. Dante's NLP makes baseH a potential unicorn in Pakistan.

 

ISN Research (CISNR)

CISNR is one of the few tech-focused institutes in Pakistan adopting AI to preserve energy and support economic development. The firm has produced nationwide smart solutions and products. ICT-AI KPK Valley, ITS, Safe Roads, SCADA, ElectroCure, Smart Disaster Management, and Smart Environment are successful initiatives.

 

ElectroCure

ElectroCure is financed by Ignite (Pakistan's national technology fund) with PKR 39.9 million. Smart electricity metering system with no rivals in or outside Pakistan. Built on the worldwide feature of minimizing meter theft, it innovates by integrating and collecting real-time data on theft and other malicious behaviors. Jazz telecommunications will use ElectroCure to reduce energy losses and boost mobile energy availability, addressing power and energy distribution in Pakistan.

 

Afiniti

Afiniti is a US-based Pakistani data and software company that utilizes AI to analyze minor human interaction patterns to boost corporate profitability. 2017 valuation: $1.6 billion. Their Pair Batter project analyses consumer identification data to forecast patterns of effective contact, which drives customer pleasure. Afiniti has 700 million consumers across diverse industries and analyses 1.3 million interactions everyday to develop its smart matching solution. AT&T uses Afiniti's matching technology to serve 5,000 contact center workers.

 

Forbes

Forbes named ADDO AI one of Asia's top AI businesses in 2017. The Pakistan-based firm specializes in data lake and data architecture analysis, data engineering and processing, and creation and management of big data and AI models to integrate corporate results with AI.

 

ADDO AI

ADDO AI develops smart cities with an AI- and machine-learning-based centralized operating system. ADDO AI CEO Ayesha Khanna: "We need a new social contract." I think we can construct a stronger city by putting our ideals into AI systems. Since its founding in 2017, ADDO AI has expanded its services to construct a serverless and scalable Data Warehouse (DW) for one of the world's leading airlines.

 

AI Center (RCAI)

RCAI is a thriving Pakistani research centre that supports creative, cost-effective product design. This research institution works with Ephlux Karachi and USA. The research station creates IoT sensor devices for data collecting. In 2018, Silicon Valley financed RCAI, which is presently working on AI projects including AIDEE (an AI-driven hearing aid) and the Intelligent Irrigation System alongside national and international organisations. The Intelligent Irrigation System has been field-tested since 2016. Last crop cycle, smart technology saved 40% of water.

 

AquaAgro

Nations that don't save water are thought to lose it. The National Incubation Center in Karachi developed Aqua Agro to produce more crops without wasting water and emphasize water conservation. The system employs IoT-enabled sensors to monitor real-time field conditions and adjust crop water needs. The technique saves 50% water compared to previous agricultural procedures, according to The Technology Times. In January 2019, the firm crowdfunded on Indigogo to outfit 50 small-scale farmers.
