Internet of Things (IoT)
Internet of Things (IoT)
The
Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of "things" integrated with
sensors, software, and other technologies to connect and exchange data via the
internet. These span from domestic to industrial equipment. Experts estimate 10
billion linked IoT devices by 2020 and 22 billion by 2025. Oracle's device

IoT
is one of the most crucial 21st-century technologies. Now that we can link
common objects—kitchen appliances, automobiles, thermostats, baby monitors—to
the internet through embedded devices, seamless communication is feasible
between people, processes, and things.
Physical
objects can exchange and gather data with minimum human interaction using
low-cost computers, the cloud, big data, analytics, and mobile technologies.
Digital systems can record, monitor, and alter interactions between hyper
connected items. Physical and digital worlds collaborate.
While
IoT
has been around for a while, new technological developments have made it
viable.
•
Low-cost,
low-power sensors. Affordable and reliable sensors help firms adopt IoT.
•
Internet
network protocols make it easier to link sensors to the cloud and other
"things" for data transmission.
•
Cloud
platforms allow enterprises and consumers to scale up without managing the
infrastructure.
•
Advances
in machine learning and analytics, plus access to cloud-stored data, help firms
get insights quicker. These associated technologies push IoT's frontiers, and
IoT data fuels them.
•
Advances in neural networks have introduced
natural-language processing (NLP) to IoT devices (like Alexa, Cortana, and
Siri) and made them inexpensive and home-friendly.
